View From Here. #LifeThisWeek 23/52. 2017.77.

I love to get out and about with my iphone for photo opps that come my way and sometimes I like to add one of the cameras too.

Knowing that I won’t be able to get ‘out and about’ soon following my forthcoming surgery (still no date) I went to my favourite local beach on the last day of Autumn. That beach is Soldier’s Beach located at Norah Head on the N.S.W. Central Coast about 90 minutes drive from Sydney.

Sure it was windy and much colder than my last visit but it did my heart and soul good to be there, in the elements, admiring the:

View From Here:

The steps from the surf club down to the sand…and the beach.

Look to the left (north) ….to the rock platform.

Half-way point down the steps looking east. Did not see any whales but the migration north has already commenced!

The view to my right and to the south. The wind and clouds made exceptional patterns.

This view…a more distant one south, showing the rugged beauty of this beach.

Yes, I did beach writing: Cancer Sucks.

Looking back up to where the carpark is…the west. The dunes get a workout in the extremes of tides at times.

Yep. A selfie..while I still have the top (fake) teeth. Wind coming from the south!!

Have you been out and about in your local area recently?

What’s the view from where you are?

  1. Glad that you’re enjoying the last of Autumn Denyse. The beach is always a calming place for me. Yesterday we drove south to San Jose to see an Egyptian Museum and stroll through a rose garden. It was a lovely sunny day, and Mr M planned the whole thing! That was a great surprise for me. All the best for the week to come xx

  2. What a great view! I l love being near water. It’s so calming and as I sit and stare at the ocean in all its magnificent and gigantic glory, it often gives me perspective.

  3. inthegoodbooksblog ( Michelle) says:

Love the photos Denyse! The selfie is great, you have such a radiant smile!

  4. Gorgeous views Denyse and I always love the comfort of listening to the ocean at anytime. You look lovely and I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery. The waiting is the hardest part isn’t it? Have a wonderful week and take care.

    • Thanks Sue, yes the waiting is awful but so too is the operation and recovery. Today I am not going so well because it has all happened rather quickly. I will post on FB when my operation is planned.
      D x

  5. Love the selfie at the end! Beautiful view and beautiful thing to do while the surgery must be weighing on you…

    • Thanks Lydia, today is a miserable day for me…and the lovely comments are helpful. I hate waiting but I also hate the idea that I have cancer too. D x

  6. Oh that looks like it would have been an amazing view! Good luck with the surgery too!

    • Thanks Tory, it is spectacular isn’t it? It was the one and only time there has been no-one else on that beach but me. D x

  7. I love visiting the beach for a walk and just to sit and listen to the waves. I find it relaxing and almost hypnotic in a way. I hope your surgery date is confirmed soon.

    • That is so true and I am glad you enjoy the waves as well. Each one is different to the next! I still have a week or more to wait to hear I think. D x

  8. The beach. So good for the mind, body and soul.

Thinking of you as wait to hear the date.

    Stay strong and positive!

    SSG xxx

    • Thanks for your messages…today I am not having a good day..worried etc. So, I’ve sent a list of questions off to the dr as the practice manager suggested. It was good to get them out of my head.
      D xx

  9. I just left a comment on Leanne’s blog saying your topic (and her post) reminded me to take a look around me this morning and appreciate everything before me.

I might link up an old post about the windscreen vs rear-view mirror that I wrote. (If I can find it!)

  10. Naw, gorgeous selfie Denyse, nothing like a trip to the beach to blow away those cobwebs, much love, Em xx

  11. That beach has special memories for me – Grant proposed at Norah Head. We’d taken a picnic up to the lighthouse & walked on the beach afterward. Lovely pics, lovely memories.

    • Oh wow. That is such a lovely place too. If you ever want any pics, I have quite a few. The Lighthouse is so cool. The grandkids thought so too when we visited last year. D xx

  12. There’s nothing more soothing to the soul than getting out in nature and absorbing the beauty of the world around you. Hope you get a date soon for your surgery so you feel a little less in limbo x

  13. I love wild beaches like this! Which reminds me it’s been over a year since I’ve been to the beach (which is 15 minutes from home!)

  14. Isn’t it lovely that it’s Winter but still with Autumn weather Denyse? I’m loving these cool sunny days we’ve been having. We have family here for our WA public holiday and it’s been beautiful weather to be out and about in.

  15. Great ocean pics… to see as far as the eye can see is wonderful. So open and spacious. Great sense of freedom. Mxox

    • It is indeed and it always reminds me to get out of ‘my small world in my head’ and out into the BIG one around me.

  16. I love getting out and about in my local area! It’s a lot too cold for the beach at the moment down here, but I could be persuaded to visit, probably worth a look at this time of year for something different. You never know what I could be missing 🙂

    • I hope you do venture out – all rugged up of course – because there is something different about the winter beach scene!

  17. Lovely photos! I absolutely love the beach! Unfortunately the nearest one to where we live is 400km away! All the best with the surgery ❤️

    • Thank you so much. This is the first time in our married lives (46 years!) we have lived close to a beach so I do take as much opportunity to visit. I hope you get some ‘beach time’ sometime in the future too. Denyse
