Try A Little Kindness. 2017.56.
I am updating this post for joining Leanne’s Linky here on Thursday 27 July 2017. I have been incredibly grateful for the many acts of kindness that have impacted my life since my cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery. It makes me really pleased to be part of a world where kindness continues to exist. In hospital all of the staff, with one small exception did all they could within their huge workloads to be kind and in turn I made every attempt to not only show my appreciation in words but to do as much as I could (within the means of my physical restrictions) independently.
The decision to link this older post up was made when I saw my daily Buddha quote. I get these sent to me each morning.
“Kindness should become the natural way of life, not the exception.” Buddha.
Denyse.

I listened to a lot of Glen Campbell as a young adult and my husband and I continue to enjoy the oldies but goodies by this man. It is sad that he is very unwell with Alzheimers disease now.
In the spirit of my word of the year
..and letting the whole world know we need more KINDNESS in our lives…right now…here it is. The lyrics and the gentle Glen himself singing it way back.
I will not apologise for the earworm because I think we need to sing it. All together now….
Try A Little Kindness
If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he’s sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say, you’re going the wrong wayYou got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streetsDon’t walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along their wayYou got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streetsYou got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness

I do hope that you find a way to show a little kindness today and forever.
Denyse.
Joining Kylie Purtell and friends who blog on Tuesdays here. Thanks for link up Kylie!
I’ve always loved that song. I remember shouting to the tree tops on Mum and Dad’s cane farm: ‘You’ve got to try a little kindness, Yes show a little kindness etc,’ I’d repeat that over and over. Definitely showing my age…haha. Magical song. Thanks for the memory.
Ah I am so glad!! Get out there and sing it to the world again Maria…we so need it!!
Great post! Image how great the world would be if everyone showed a little more kindness.
Thanks for the positive ear worm! So much better than some of the others I’ve had swirling around – lol!

I figured it was a good one to have!! Yes, we so need more kindness!
Kindness, Check!
Nice one!
We all need that don’t we Denyse. I’ve been quite discouraged with the world lately. However, my husband and I took some Easter Eggs to the aged care facility where my MIL is and everyone was so excited. It doesn’t take much to show kindness to others – we should start a movement! Have a beautiful day xx
Indeed it does not. For some people who do not have much contact with others it is great just to have a quick hello or share a smile. I do that a lot where we live as we know very few people and it is a community of older citizens and it doesn’t take much to share the kindness and I know I get something back too. Yes, we need to watch less news I think too.
I am clapping and singing my little heart out. What a gorgeous song (I had forgotten about this song). I grew up with this – mum and dad playing it through the record player.
It is not hard to show a little kindness but the impact it can make on someone else’s day can be very powerful. #teamIBOT
You are so welcome Natalie! Add it to your resources!! Denyse x
Love this post Denyse. With troubling news in the world, we could all do with a bit of kindness. x
Thank you Bec. Exactly what I think too and why it was my post for today!!
The world could definitely do with more kindness! Or maybe at least a media who is willing to report more of the kindness.
Indeed, a very good point made! I said to my hub the other night I am sick of watching and hearing ‘the BAD news’ these days!!
I’ve never heard that song before. I love it! Kindness never goes out of fashion! Here’s to kindness – the world needs more of that!
Well dang me! You obviously did not grow up with Mr Glen Campbell singing and playing his guitar as our kids did LOL. I am glad you have heard it now though!!
Love the Buddha quote Denyse.
Also love your gratitude through your cancer. Not everybody has that. I think that’s a true strength.

Thank you Leanne…your words are kindness itself. Love, Denyse xx
