Retrospective. The Bay. 308/365.

Retrospective. The Bay. 308/365.

We arrived to live at ‘The Bay’ on NSW Central Coast in mid January 2015.

We have decided to move on later this month,  away from this view.

I have enjoyed being able to capture scenes outside my back (or is it front?) door and wanted to share some from earlier this year until recently.

I See The Moon. 301/365.

I See The Moon. 301/365.

I do love to see the moon in the sky.

I do wish I could capture its beauty in its many phases as others do.

However, this morning, just before 6.00.a.m. I spied the moon as it was slowly fading from the sky.

The shot is not ‘great’ but I love the gentle and warm qualities of the sky.

Powerlines always get in the way! However, I am not complaining. Love the power they bring to the house.

This song came to mind too. I am sure I’ve sung it to many kids over the years at school and at home.

I see the moon, the moon sees me

shining through the leaves of the old oak tree

Oh, let the light that shines on me,

shine on the one I love.

Over the mountain, over the sea,

back where my heart is longing to be

oh, let the light that shines on me

shine on the one I love.

I hear the lark, the lark hears me

singing from the leaves of the old oak tree

Oh, let the lark that sings to me,

sing to the one I love.

Over the mountains, over the sea

back to where my heart is longing to be

Oh, let the lark that sings to me,

sing to the one I love.

How’s the moon in your part of the world right now?

Happy Thursday everyone.

Just A Few Pics & Bits. 275/365.

Loving the end of the day and I walk out to the bay (yep, a rhyme) and see what the light and the water does to my photos.

Here’s what a collation of the past few days.

Love being able to walk out the ‘back’ or ‘front’ door – depending on your perspective to do this:

Happy Holiday Weekend Saturday.

  1. Some game they play called AFL has a grand final today. WA team vs a Vic team
  2. Clocks ‘spring forward’ at 2 a.m. in most Australian states on Sunday 4 October
  3. Rugby World Cup continues…AUS v ENG. tomorrow at 6.15 a.m. AESDT (I think that’s the term for Australian Eastern Standard Daylight Saving Time)
  4. NRL Grandfinal tomorrow in Sydney in high temps of around 35deg C, two Qld teams play. Go North Qld Cowboys.
  5. Monday – NSW at least – public holiday. And that’s the last one until Christmas. Yep.

How’s your weekend?

4 Seasons At The Bay. 272/365.

4 Seasons At The Bay. 272/365.

We have lived on the waterfront at Empire Bay NSW for almost 9 months but in that time we have seen 4 seasons.

Mind you, one of those seasons was BRUTAL…when the east coast of Australia was hit by an east coast low. I wrote about it here.

Here’s a little snapshot from the 4 Seasons at the Bay.

What season is it where you are now?

One Shot Three Ways. 251/365.

One Shot Three Ways. 251/365.

My Fuji Camera is one I got so I could explore underwater and it’s proved to be more of a fun camera than I ever realised.

On Saturday I walked out to the water way I refer to as ‘the bay’ and shot one photo, three ways.

It’s because I found it had more settings than I’d ever used.

Which one is your favourite?

One Perfect Moment. 249/365.

One Perfect Moment. 256/365.

Living on the waterfront at Empire Bay for this year, we get to witness lots of new (to us) experiences, animals, marine life, birds, ducks and boats. Often my husband will call out ‘hey did you see Mr Percival?” Mr Percival is his name for the one (it only ever seems to be one) pelican that ‘owns’ this space near us.

On a recent walk, at the end of the day, when anyone who’s been out for a fish has returned to the public jetty, I noticed more than ‘Mr Percival.’

Truth be told, I have no clue if or which one IS Mr Percival let alone if this pelican is a Ms or Mr.

Anyway, I did get more than one shot and whilst I won’t single one out, it was ONE PERFECT MOMENT that I had to capture these pelicans.

Have you seen many pelicans? They are quite ‘fierce’ close up!

Six Months Pt 2. 202/365.

Six Months Pt 2. 202/365.

Recently I wrote about Six Months Pt 1. here.

In our new and different circumstances I have faced some challenges I did foresee and others I was surprised to find. Someone I saw recently noted that having had 3 of Life’s BIG changes occur simultaneously, then little wonder I am finding the going extra tough. Nevertheless, it “is” getting better! S L O W L Y…and probably more slowly than impatient me would like!!

Are you like that?

Let’s get it over with?

Just me?

OK….

Moving on to this post’s contents…

What might the next 6 months look like for us?

  • I am becoming a little more physically and socially  connected in the local and wider area. Today I begin an 8 week art course at the Gosford Regional Gallery. I am finding a few people in the Umina area who could be interested in getting together for some mindful coloouring in and meeting one on Thursday.
  • My hub is busy in a balanced way! He is finding that helping his brother and sister-in-law with renovations is satisfying his ‘physical, let’s get me out of the house’ need. He is continuing 2 subjects of his on-line course in Bachelor of Counselling. Round of applause for his credit and distinction last semester. He wakes early, due his physical health challenges,  and does most of his study and assignment work from around 3 a.m- 7 a.m.
  • Whilst we have enjoyed the ‘water views’ here (and thanks to your comments, readers, you do too!) this house is too big, uncomfortable …thanks spiral staircase and NO ducted air con…and I could go on but I won’t…and at around $150 a week more than our continuing budget can afford we won’t be staying here beyond the 12 month rental agreement.
  • We have already found areas where we are more likely to find a comfortable house, with the pre-requisite of ducted air and at the right price. They are not over the road from the Bay or the Beach..but only about 15-20 minutes drive away from water and our nest egg (saving for the house we buy one day) will be less eroded.

Mind you, packing again…moving again…how good is that? NOT.

So, whilst we have no crystal ball into our future, like the rest of the world, at least we are making progress in our ‘new’ life here on the Central Coast after leaving Sydney.

Have you ever made major life changes and wondered….’why?’ No, not that we have…but it can feel stressful at times.
