In July I attended a Blogging Conference in Melbourne, and met up with “old” friends that I had either not met, or only once. Here I am with two…on a freezing night before the Conference. “Hi Sharon and Nathalie” …It occurred to me today, writing in advance of ProBlogger Training Day, that it’s just like starting school.

ProBlogger Training Day and Starting School.
I have been wondering what ‘it’ will be like at ProBlogger Training Day when I attend on Friday 21st October 2011.
Here’s what I know now:
I am going to meet loads of new people. I will know some people already because I have been to other events with them. I am wondering if anyone will ask to sit with me. I am hoping that I will be included with some of my favourite and popular friends from the blogging world. But, I realise this may not happen. I will try to make the most of what I am there to do…learn, meet new people, have conversations, eat some lunch, drink some coffee, listen, write, read and ask questions. It is going to be a very long day. I haven’t had any practice at these kinds of days much. I know I have to be there by 8.30 am. I hope I can find where to go. I am probably going to get tired. But I am told that I must stay there all day. So, I will do what I am told. I hope that everything they say it will be like is true. Because I have read a lot, tweeted quite a bit, and am getting a bit excited. So, after ProBlogger Training Day, I will write a report.

Starting School – Kindergarten or Prep.
I think I know what school is. I know that mum tells me a lot that’s where I’m going. She took me to see it one day. The toilets were a bit scary but I liked the bubblers. I saw a big playground.
Starting High School – Year Seven or Year Eight.
Oh. I am in High School. We went with our class last year and I liked the science lab and the art room. I thought there was so many different kids. At primary school I knew everyone, and they knew me. Now I am thinking ‘what if I can’t find my room?’

Did you go to ProBlogger Training Day?
Do you remember how you felt beforehand?
What do you remember about starting school?
How was starting High School for you?
I will be very interested to read. This is a post to remember ‘how it is to be new’. Even when we are old, there’s some place where we will be new.

*waves* As you know, I’m not doing this one, but will likely see you at the next one
See you in March 2012.
I didn’t go to the Problogger event yesterday, I hope to go next year (hmmm, I seem to be saying that a lot!). I can’t really remember starting high school in particular – I changed schools so often, all the new starts blend into one in my memory, but I do remember feeling new and not knowing who to talk to! Nothing much has changed in adulthood, hahaha, except now I know I can’t just wait for someone else to strike up a conversation!
I was at ProBlogger yesterday and I felt nervous and excited. I also remember being new at school 5 times, as I went to 5 different schools, it is a very scary time. Especially in a new town where you know not one single person.
Hope you enjoyed it yesterday
I did indeed, and I remember seeing you but somehow we didn’t chat. It was like first day at school but we were grown ups this time…and you did change schools a fair bit for one person. Thanks for visiting and commenting. Denyse
I’ve never been to a blogging event… I only blog as part of a team for my company blog, and don’t have a blog of my own. Makes me feel like I wouldn’t belong. But I watched the tweet stream from #pbevent, and think I’d like to go to the next one.
Thank you Jacki for coming by and commenting. It is an event like no other, one with bloggers…hope you do get to come to one. Digital Parents Australia is having a conference in March 2012.
