Easter Season. 2017.54.

Easter Season. 2017.54.

I wrote about My Easter this week here. Memories of Easter and more.

This post is about the season in which Easter arrives in the Southern Hemisphere.

Unlike the themes of new life and Spring of the Northern Hemisphere, we in Australia have a sense of the coming of the season of Winter and shorter (much) days and longer (much) nights.

Easter usually arrives well into Autumn and this week we’ve had cold(er) nights and it’s been raining more.

On Thursday before Easter the day was bright and warm so I ventured out, armed with a better camera to capture what I could of favourite places before the days get too unpleasant!

Here are my Easter Season shots:

Nestled in this tree by the lake are at least 5 birds. Large ones too.

On the walkway to Lakes Beach, I always look south to the lighthouse at Norah Head in the distance.

Looking north now from the vantage point of the walkway onto the beach. These grasses help the beach stabilise.

Looking west from Lakes Beach itself. Magical!

The waves were rough one of the surfers told me. And out at sea are various tanker ships (not seen) waiting till they can dock in Newcastle further north.

Today’s beach writing!

We are staying put for Easter as always but we are now delighted that some of our family are driving up on Saturday and Sunday for a catch up, some lunch and a few little Easter Egg treats.

What are you doing for Easter?

There is but one photo link-up now I follow. Here it is.

I am joining with Sammie and friends here for The Ultimate Rabbit Hole on the weekend. Thank you for having me!

  1. Have a great time with your family Denise!
I love your beach shots, the one with wild grass in the foreground reminds me of the second Anne of Green Gables movie when she’s writing her book by the beach, in the grass.

    • Thanks so much Kat. We don’t see them much due to busyness of work, study and school timetables and this weekend we will see one side of the family over 2 days. It’s a blissful time of weather right now so enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. I hope your weekend is a good one. D x

  2. I love that photo of the grasses in the foreground and the ocean behind. That’s gorgeous.

  3. We are having a very low key Easter this weekend, and looking forward to it! Have a great one!

    • I think low-key Easters are great when you get to recover and re-group from all the busy-ness of life leading up to it! Enjoy!

  4. What lovely pictures. Hasn’t the weather been glorious this weekend?! This is the Australian autumn I know and love. Our weekend is the perfect trifecta of Netflix, running and funning with friends. I wish every weekend lasted four days! Enjoy the family fun! Hope you have an eggcellent time!

    • Thank you Sammie. The weekend is just lovely in terms of the length and the weather! A fab trifecta for sure for you!! The family visit was fun and there will be another tomorrow with 3 grown up grandkids who drive themselves to see us. D x

  5. Lovely photos…I don’t think I’ve been to Lakes Beach yet but I have been to Norah Head and find it beautiful. I went further up north yesterday to Swansea Heads. Glad to hear your family is coming over this weekend. Have a great Easter!

    • It is lovely up here in the northern (and somewhat less busy!) part of the Central Coast. To visit Lakes Beach it’s on the road to Budgewoi just after you get out of Noraville going north. It’s a very rough beach surf wise but a great one for access and walking! I hope your Easter has been great. The weather has been amazing!

  6. Beautiful photos Denyse which really do show how lovely the weather can be at this time of the year. Despite not relishing the idea of shorter days I love the warm sunny days now with crisp cool nights and mornings – perfection!

    • They truly are the best, and this April the weather here has really turned it on. In our first year here on the Central Coast, April 2015, it was the worst though as we got caught up in the never-moving along East Coast Low and had no power and other services for almost 5 days. I need my comforts and services. Nights are great for sleeping again for sure.
