Memorial Walk Newcastle. 2017.64.

Memorial Walk Newcastle. 2017.64.

This week I visited Newcastle NSW which is about a 45 minute drive north from us.

I had wanted to see and experience the Memorial Walk at Newcastle since its opening two years ago.

Whilst it was a very windy day, I did walk along some of it. I was drawn to it because of where it is and its purpose.

The walk was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli in 1915 and the commencement of steel making in Newcastle; it acts as a magnificent memorial to the men and women of the Hunter who served their community and their country.

If you live near here or want to visit Newcastle to see this and walk along it to admire the scenes and the purpose, here is a link all about it.

I love places where history can be remembered and those who played their part honoured.

Have you visited here?

Is there somewhere like this where you live?
